Day 2 at GTM Tech Week: the "engineer" in GTM Engineer is more literal than you think.

Today is Engineering day at GTM Tech Week Warsaw: GTM systems architecture, and the first automated workflows that turn a strategy into a machine. It's the day this whole week is quietly built around - and it's the exact subject of our new research.

The GTM Engineer is arguably the first revenue job title created largely by AI. The role exists to build leverage inside a revenue team: automating targeting, enrichment, outreach and routing with tools like Clay, n8n and LLM agents instead of adding bodies. 492 people in Europe currently carry the title.

Two things in the data stand out for a room full of builders.

First, Europe's feeder is more technical than America's. Among classifiable backgrounds, engineers and data professionals are the single largest source of European GTM Engineers - ahead of sales and marketing, which lead in the US. The "engineer" here is closer to literal. If you came up shipping pipelines and tests, this role is a natural next step.

Second, a brand-new feeder is forming. People whose entire prior career was the tooling itself - Clay operators, automation specialists, certified outbound-tool partners - are walking straight into the role. That path didn't exist three years ago. Engineering day is, in a sense, the on-ramp.

The strategic read for anyone building a GTM team: this is a real discipline now, with its own talent market and its own routes in. Treat it like engineering hiring, not sales hiring. Screen on what someone has shipped - the systems, the workflows, the agents - not on whether they already hold the title.

Today is the builders' day, and the schedule shows it: a hands-on Claude Code / Co-Work for GTM workshop, then the AI Tinkerers GTM Engineering Edition in the evening. If you want to see the role in action, that's the room. Come say hello - TechTree is an official partner and we'll be around.
